Make Your Own Germinated Brown Rice (GBR)

How to make great GBR grits

buy germinated brown rice

We Want to get the extra benefits that germinated brown rice can give us ... that is why we are here. And the trick is the how to make the brown rice germinate. There are differnet methods. The idea is to keep the brown rice in water that is between 85 and 103 degrees as that is the temperature that will promote the rice to germinate. it takes about 18 to 24 hours... sounds simple?

I use a foot massager that has a button to allow the foot massager to just keep the temperature of the water around 100 degress... if you are gonna do this method remember that the foot massager will keep the water hot but don't ask it to heat the water because it will take all day.. put in already hot water and it will keep the water hot... I put the rice in a hemp sprouting sack... I put the sack in the hot water...oh, I have also added green tea to the hot water... green tea discourages the growth of bacteria in the foot massagers heated water... with the green tea you must change the water every six hours, without the green tea you have to change the water every four hours... it will take between 18 and 24 hours before the brown rice will start to germinate.

Some people have suggested other methods to keep the water between the necessary 85 to 103 degress that will work to induce the brown rice to germinate... Another suggestion is to get a hot plate and put a dimmer switch in its electrical system and find the place where the hot plate will keep water in a pot at the desired temperature... Other methods are to try to use a rice cooker and put the switch to warm and leave the top open... I have not tried this but it could work... someone else suggest a yogurt maker without more details but I think that would limit the amount of rice you could germinate... but I really don't know ... I like the foot massager method as messy as that sounds....

The other thing you can do is buy the stuff already made... It is not much more expensive and it is easier... They don't add anything to the rice so you are getting a pretty pure product... we have a choice... in the case of kefir and kombucha... I do not recomend buying the already made product that is available as the are phony products with many missing and added ingredients plus they are watered down. I don't recomend versions of anything in the form of pills, extracts, tictures or anything put out by a large company...you should be able to make these things yourself or have a pretty good idea that what ever it is that you are buying is being made the way you would do it at home. There is really nothing you can do to the germinated brown rice to adulterate it and I have checked out the company that makes the rice and I can't find any fault there and to tell you the truth since I've tried the already made stuff I stopped making my own... I am a lazy ..... person.......... buy germinated brown rice
